Sociology students collecting clothes for homeless

May 23, 2015 | 8:36 AM

An idea that began as a class project has become a major community event.

A group of students from the First Nations University campus in Prince Albert are collecting clothing for the homeless.  As part of their sociology class, the students were asked to create awareness about an issue in society.

“We got this idea that in order to help the homeless, we kind of need to get out there and do something,” said Kandance Parker, one of the students involved.

Not too long after, the Clothing Our Community event was created.  Parker said the project has really opened her eyes.
