Balgonie highway crash sends 4 to hospital

A crash on Highway 1 at Balgonie had traffic backed up Wednesday evening and brought out the STARS air ambulance.
 
The RCMP said it happened around 6:30 p.m. An SUV was heading east on the highway, then tried to turn left onto Main Street in Balgonie when it was hit by a Pontiac heading west.
 
Balgonie’s fire department, EMS from Regina, and STARS from Regina responded to the crash.
 
Four people were taken to hospital with injuries, though police couldn’t elaborate on the severity of their injuries.
 
RCMP said a 48-year-old Manitoba man was charged with failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
