Dog tasered during Saskatoon domestic dispute call

A family dog is fine after police tasered the animal during a domestic dispute Friday night. 

An unknown number of police officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Avenue R South around 6:13 p.m. One of the officers was assaulted by a man at the home. 

Meanwhile, a dog at the home tried to bite two officers before charging a third and trying to bite him as well. The third officer tasered the dog which caused it to retreat. 

A police K-9 unit member assessed the dog to make sure it was okay. The dog didn’t need medical attention and was able to stay with the owners. 

None of the officers needed medical attention and the incident will be reviewed according to Saskatoon Police policy.

A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with domestic assault, assaulting a police officer and unlawful confinement. He will be seen by a Justice of the Peace on Sunday.
