Convicted residential school sex abuser gets more prison time

May 6, 2015 | 12:16 PM

A man convicted of abusing students at a residential school in Beauval will return to prison, following a decision made by the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal on Monday.

Paul Leroux, 74, was convicted in 2013 for the incidents that occurred at the Beauval Indian Residential School.  He received a three-year prison sentence.

The sentence was appealed by the Crown prosecutor and on Monday, Leroux had his sentence increased to eight years.

In their decision, the appellate court judges said they found the original sentence to be insufficient.
