Weekend snow slows seeding in northeast
The first Crop Report of the season is out as farmers head out into their fields and begin harrowing and controlling weeds.
The ministry of agriculture is reporting that Saskatchewan has two per cent of the 2015 crop in the ground, which is just ahead of the five-year average of less than one per cent.
In the northeast, and many other areas in central and northern Saskatchewan, seeding has been delayed due to significant rainfall and snow over the past weekend.
Areas in the north saw almost 20 centimetres (cm) of snow.
