Samuel McLeod Business Awards gala celebrates business excellence

Apr 24, 2015 | 7:14 AM

It was an evening of celebration on Thursday for many local businesses gathered at the Art Hauser Centre for Prince Albert’s annual Samuel McLeod Business Awards gala.

The Samuel McLeod Business Awards ceremony celebrates local businesses and business leaders who demonstrated success, exceptional performance, spirit, entrepreneurship and civic leadership.

Parkland Ambulance Care received two awards during the ceremony. It took home not only the community involvement award, but also business of the year.

Parkland Ambulance Care, which formed in 1974, is a third-generation family-run ambulance service. It began with just two ambulances and two staff and since then has grown into the third-largest ambulance care service in the province.

Trevor Dutchak, EMT, chief executive officer of Parkland Ambulance Care said their motto is family and to treat every patient as if they were family. It’s a motto he said began and has continued since his grandfather first got into the business.

“That is my grandma or grandpa or aunt or uncle, you want to make sure that they are treated with that extra top notch whether it be just that blanket or just that hug or just that smile,” said Dutchak.
