Train smashes into semi truck hung up on tracks near Ituna

A semi driver is in hospital after his rig got caught on some train tracks and was struck by a train. RCMP tell News Talk Radio that it happened Tuesday afternoon The 41-year-old was driving across the tracks on Highway 15 west of Yorkton, at Jasmin with a load of bales.

That's when the truck's trailer got hung up on snow drift. That's when a train came barrelling down the tracks, and couldn't stop in time, colliding with the truck. Police say extensive damage was done to both the truck and train. The semi driver suffered minor injuries.

Ice covered, and snow packed roads are considered a major contributing factor.
