Meadow Lake women charged in pill theft

Two Meadow Lake women will appear in provincial court for charges relating to a drug store looting earlier that occurred earlier in March.

Meadow Lake RCMP report that on March 4, at around 6 a.m., looters took advantage of a power outage and broke into a drug store.

The thieves made off with almost 7,000 pills including some narcotics and methadone.

Over the course of a month, police investigated and were able to recover about 4,000 pills, Monday night.

Two women were charged in relation to the incident.

Kendall Laliberte, 34, of Meadow Lake is facing charges for breaking and entering, theft, possession of controlled substances and several probation order violations. She’ll appear in Meadow Lake provincial court on Apr. 11.

Also charged is Rhonda Anderson, 38, also of Meadow Lake. She’s facing charges of possession of controlled substances and possession of stolen property. She’ll appear in court on Apr. 4.

Police say their investigation is continuing.
