Saskatchewan’s population hit new record

More people than ever are calling Saskatchewan home.

According to figures released by Statistics Canada, the province’s population grew by 17,396 people last year to an all-time high of 1,132,640.

Saskatchewan grew by a rate of 1.56 per cent in 2014 which was the second highest in the country, behind only Alberta.

Most of the growth was through immigration (11,106). The number of new births last year outpaced deaths (5,793).
