Pancake breakfast raises funds for Telemiracle

Mar 6, 2015 | 10:24 AM

The Prince Albert Kinsmen and Kinettes held their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser at Humpty’s on Friday morning, and they raised $1,039.

The event raises funds for Telemiracle, which will be broadcast from TCU Place in Saskatoon starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday and will continue on Sunday.

The Prince Albert Kinsmen and Kinettes have hosted the breakfast for a number of years, but this is the second year they’ve held it at Humpty’s.

After the morning rush, Prince Albert Kinsmen Club president Darren Solomon said the generosity of the community has been fantastic.

“They just support Telemiracle at all of our events and all of the things we’ve been doing. And we’ve noticed throughout all of our events at the Cabaret this year, at the Raider game the other night and this one as well, that people are really supporting this year, and we’re very thankful for that.”

This is the busiest time of the year for the Kinsmen – the club has worked on the final push for Telemiracle, recently held R U Tuff Enuff and worked on Citizen of the Year. Solomon said it’s been a busy month and a half.

The Kinsmen are working on a couple fundraisers, which the club isn’t ready to make announcements about yet. As well, the club has taken over work on the Save Our Waterslides campaign.

Solomon said the club will be launching their campaign soon and will be making announcements shortly.

He said it was very important to the Kinsmen to take charge of this.

“I think the history of the Kinsmen water slides, and the park in general, the club always felt it was very important to be part of the solution for where things are at right now, and of course, that means bringing the community together and counting on them to help us get the job done.”
