Meath Park fined over false records

Mar 2, 2015 | 10:52 AM

The Village of Meath Park has been fined $500, after pleading guilty to a charge of falsifying documents.

The fine has to do with a complaint last fall that the water treatment manager was not doing his job.

The investigation by the Water Security Agency (WSA) revealed the manager was away for a couple days, attending a family funeral. Someone else was left in charge of the water sample testing.

“So those two days he (the manager) was gone, the reports weren’t filled out correctly, there were no initials on them.  They couldn’t prove that they were done and they couldn’t prove that they weren’t done,” said Counc. Michael Hydamacka.

Hydamacka said the person responsible continues to work for the Village.

“He got a written warning and that was about the end of it,” said Hydamacka.

Patrick Boyle with the WSA said the agency received a complaint in November that led to an investigation.

“I guess from our perspective anytime we get a report of complaints we take those seriously and certainly all reports regarding falsifying records for water works operations, we look into and don’t take lightly,” said Boyle.

The Village issued a guilty plea to the charge in February.  They have until March 31 to pay the fine.
