Radio Bingo returns, will help Big Brothers Big Sisters

Feb 26, 2015 | 6:12 AM

After a short vacation, Radio Bingo is returning to the airwaves of 900 CKBI.

The popular Thursday night program provides funding for local charitable groups.

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) have signed as the charity partner, with volunteers from the Prince Albert Optimist Club helping out.

“The proceeds are going to go towards recruitment and marketing, training for staff, and volunteer screening,” said Allyson Wall, who speaks on behalf of the Prince Albert chapter of BBBS.

Wall said they were approached by the radio station and it was an opportunity they could not pass up.

“Some of the benefits will be getting out there in the public and the weekly Radio Bingo show will talk about what’s going on in our agency,” she said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is one of the local groups that the Optimist Club supports.

Prince Albert treasurer Vince Parker said they are glad to help out with Radio Bingo.

“We like to get involved with the charities we support, so we’re doing the leg work,” he said.

Some of that leg work will involve distribution of the Radio Bingo cards to the retailers.

Radio Bingo can be heard weekly on 900 CKBI at 7 p.m. starting again on March 5.
