All Mighty Voice brings the noise to Canada Winter Games

Feb 23, 2015 | 10:15 AM

A local band is taking a national step in terms of audience next week.

Prince Albert’s All Mighty Voice is heading to Prince George, B.C. to take part as the entertainment for the Canada Winter Games.

Guitarist Jordy Balicki said they’re bringing a new tune along with their set list of hits to the stage at the games.

“We’ve got one new track we wrote, called Magenta Louise, which we’ll be showcasing for the first time down there,” said Balicki.

And while the band’s popular musical style is more than likely the main reason they’ve locked in this national gig, they can partly thank Balicki as well.

“I went to music school in Nelson, British Columbia, and a girl that I knew there worked on the board with Winter Games,” said Balicki. “She knew of our band All Mighty Voice, so she submitted our CD and our press kit to the board.”

From there the board sent the local musicians an invite to play at the prestigious event.

Speaking about the upcoming show, guitarist Shayne Lazarowich said it’s a very exciting opportunity to bring their music to the next level.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to travel and to bring our music to a much wider audience,” said Lazarowich. “We’ll have the pleasure of opening up for a larger, more well-known act, and there’ll be some very well-known acts during the week.”

The act that All Mighty Voice will be opening for is country music singer Tim Hicks.

To ensure they’re prepared for this opportunity, Lazarowich said the band has been on a rigorous practice schedule.

“We’ve been practicing pretty diligently, we have rented studio space that we’ve used to practice,” said Lazarowich. “We’ve set a pretty strict practice schedule, just to make sure our set is extremely fine-tuned and that we can give our best and properly represent P.A. too.”

And this isn’t the only major event the band has to look forward to.

In May the boys will be travelling to Toronto to perform as part of the Canadian Music Week event.

“They’ve only announced two band from Saskatchewan, ourselves and the Pistolwhips from Saskatoon,” said Balicki. “That’s a huge couple of weeks in Toronto, a huge Canadian music festival, lots of big names out there, so just to get the invite alone is a compliment to our band.”

But while the band has big shows and big dreams for 2015, they’re not forgetting the fans that brought them to this level, and there will be plenty of local shows as well.

On Mar. 6 the band will be playing at The Basement in Saskatoon, on Mar. 21 they will be at the Kerry Vickars Centre in Melfort, and on Apr. 2-4 the band will be featured at the Northern Lights Casino.

The band will be playing Feb. 25 and 26 for the Canada Winter Games in Prince George.

The Canadian Music Week runs in Toronto from May 1-10.
