Mistrial for Regina man accused of killing mother

Feb 20, 2015 | 8:58 AM

A Regina man accused of beating his own mother to death in June 2013 will get a whole new trial.

A judge at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina has declared a mistrial in the second-degree murder trial of James Myers due to an issue with one of the witnesses in the case.

The full written decision listing the exact reasons for the mistrial is not available at this time.

In brief comments to the media, Crown lawyer Kim Jones said he intends to look into some questions surrounding the witness. But he noted that the Crown will likely proceed with the same arguments in the next trial.
