Man doused in gas, Regina home set on fire

A man was doused in gas and his home lit on fire in an incident Regina police are still investigating — even after they charged two people.

On Friday afternoon, the 21-year-old was with a woman at his home on Ottawa Place. Police say it was then two men allegedly broke into the house and assaulted him.

He had gas poured on him before the house was set on fire.

He got out of the house, where he was then allegedly assaulted by a woman. The two men in the house and the woman later drove away with another woman.

Regina Fire and Protective Services called in the police. The 21-year-old and the woman with him were taken to hospital. He had relatively minor injuries while she was physically unharmed.

On Saturday, officers arrested and charged a 34-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman.

Calvin George Turcsanyi made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning on charges of mischief endangering a life, break and enter and committing an assault with a weapon.

Crystal Nash is charged with assault with a weapon and well a charge each for possession of cocaine and methamphetamine. She is to appear in court on April 1.
