Mike the Knight embarks on adventure on P.A. stage

Jan 29, 2015 | 11:00 AM

Dragons, wizards and valiant friends are going to be accompanying a knight on stage in Prince Albert.

Mike the Knight and his crew will be performing in Mike the Knight in the Great Scavenger Hunt put on by Koba Entertainment at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre on Thursday.

The onstage production, based on the CGI-animated series for pre-schoolers, is an interactive show pulled together by award-winning choreographer and director Patti Caplette, writer Jennifer Beasley and projection designer Beth Kates.

“It’s always excited to see a new show up and running and the actors are very, very excited to finally get to play in front of smiling faces and get to hear lots of cheers and answers and things going on from the audience,” Caplette said.

She said there are 15 new songs written for the show and the production breaks the wall between the actors and audience.

“We break that wall by asking the audience what they think the clue means or where they think they should go next or what should Mike do next, so it’s always a back and forth dialogue, so the kids get to really feel like they’re a part of the action.”

The show opened this week in Manitoba and will travel west across the country before turning around to cover the east, stopping in 45 cities.
