Yorkton man allegedly threatens to blow up RCMP detachment

A 40-year-old man is in police custody for allegedly threatening to blow up the RCMP detachment in Yorkton.
 
Around 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, police were told that a man was making threats against police on Facebook. Later in the evening, the RCMP surrounded the suspect’s home in Yorkton, and the Explosive Device Unit was called in to conduct a search.  
 
According to police, the 40-year-old lives in a multi-unit building. Six adults and one child were evacuated and taken to the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton. Arrangements will be made for the residents who need a place to stay as the search continues.
 
The Yorkton RCMP detachment, City Hall and the RCMP rural detachment on Palliser Way were searched by police. Nothing suspicious was found.
