Dec 22, 2014 | 4:20 PM

A woman serving an indeterminate sentence for the 2009 killing of her husband in Prince Albert has died at an Edmonton Hospital.

Nancy Andres, 45, had been serving her sentence for manslaughter and assault since May. 20, 2011. She was an inmate at the Edmonton Institution for Women.

Her next of kin had been notified. The Correctional Service of Canada did not provide any further information about the circumstances of her death.

Andres was sentenced to a life sentence after she pleaded guilty to manslaughter. She had originally been charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge on the grounds she had been using drugs on the night of her husband’s death.
