Teens face charges following morning crash

Two teenaged boys, 14 and 16, will have a court date following early morning crash Friday in Prince Albert.

Around 2:30 a.m., a vehicle swerved out of control and crashed into the light standard at First Avenue East and 15th Street East.

When police arrived at the scene they observed that there was significant damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, a back tire had been torn off and the air bags had deployed.The driver and the passengers had fled.

A canine officer was called to scene and started tracking the suspects and that led to a residence in the 500 block of 12th Street East.

Five people were arrested at the residence for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, but only the two have been charged.

Parkland Ambulance took a 20-year-old woman to the Victoria Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 16-year-old boy faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, fail to remain at the scene of an accident and breach of aYouth Criminal Justice Act probation.

The 14-year-old boy was also charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act for breach of undertaking.
