Fatal collision near Lloydminster

RCMP are investigating a fatal collision near Lloydminister.

It happed shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 17 south of Township Road 514.  A 2001 Volkswagon Beetle crashed head-on with a BMW, killing the female driver of the Volkswagon and injuring the driver of the BMW. As of a press release issued at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, the driver of the BMW was being treated by paramedics on site and the Lloydminster coroner and members of the Maidstone RCMP detachment were at the scene waiting for a collision analyst to arrive from Battleford.

The section of Highway 17 where the collision occured is closed until further notice.  RCMP are not releasing the name of the victim as they are still trying to notify her family.
