Winter weather leads to weekend accidents around P.A.

It seems drivers in and around Prince Albert had difficulty with the snowfall and icy conditions over the weekend.

Parkland Ambulance reports 67 incidents over the weekend including a number of car accidents.

Prince Albert Police report responding to six separate accidents with half of those leading to charges of impaired driving.

On Saturday morning Prince Albert Police responded to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Sixth Avenue and 15th Street West.

Police report the driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a pole.

He was arrested and investigation led to an impaired driving charge, with his first court appearance scheduled for Monday.

While drivers seemed to stay fairly safe for the rest of the day in the city, the area surrounding was a different story.

Around noon paramedics were called out to Sturgeon Lake where a 42-year-old woman was injured in an accident.

She only received minor injuries and was taken to Victoria Hospital for further care in good condition.

Later that day paramedics were called out again to an accident, this time just east of the city past the Highway 11 turnoff.

Two boys, six and nine, were both hurt but the driver was uninjured.

All three were taken to Victoria Hospital for further care.

Overnight there was an accident at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and 18th Street West where a vehicle hit a woman.

Parkland Ambulance officials report the 32-year-old woman was seriously injured and was rushed to Victoria Hospital, before being moved to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

Police have investigated but there have been no details released on whether charges will be laid in this incident.

On Sunday, emergency officials were called out to a collision on 15th Street and Sixth Avenue East.

Prince Albert Police report the assistance of fire officials was needed in the two-vehicle accident.

Minor injuries were reported from Parkland Ambulance, with two people taken to Victoria Hospital for further care.
