Snow set to follow freezing rain in east central Sask.

Nov 21, 2014 | 5:14 PM

With provincial highway crews still working to rid roads of ice after a day of freezing rain, another Environment Canada (EC) forecast will likely have them on their toes through the weekend.

EC’s special weather statement looks at a low pressure system coming on the heels of the one that brought Friday’s freezing rain.

The disturbance will hit the northeast area of the grainbelt the hardest with EC including Prince Albert, La Ronge, Tisdale, Nipawin and Shellbrook.

The system will intensify as it moves toward that region, bringing between 10 and 15 centimetres of snow and possible strong winds and freezing rain by the end of the weekend.
