What you need to know tonight for Raiders-Broncos

The Prince Albert Raiders snapped their four-game losing skid last week with a 3-2 shootout win over the Swift Current Broncos on the road.

Both teams will have a rematch tonight at the Art Hauser Centre, in the Broncos’ first trip this season to P.A. Here’s a few things to keep an eye out for.

A new Cory

Leftwinger Cory Millette will make his Raider debut in Friday’s game. Millette was acquired from the Blades on Thursday morning, in exchange for a fifth round draft choice in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. That pick originally belonged to the Blades, as the Raiders picked it up as a part of the Graeme Craig deal last year.

Millette practiced on the third line alongside Matteo Gennaro and Tim Vanstone, in place of Mackenze Stewart who will be suspended for Friday’s game.

Parenteau the lucky charm

Raiders rookie goaltender Rylan Parenteau has carried the weight lately in goal for the Raiders. He has registered the last three wins for the Raiders and is 3-1 in his last four starts. He stopped 28 of 30 shots in his performance last week against the Broncos and stopped three of four attempts in the shootout.

Raiders sophomore Nick McBride, on the other hand, has had his struggles. He’s 0-4 in his last four starts and has given up four goals in each of his last five appearances. His last win came on Oct. 28, his first career shutout in a 5-0 drubbing over the Kootenay Ice.

Busy Bow

Broncos goaltender Landon Bow has been by far, the best goaltender to start this season. He leads the league in save percentage (.936), goals against average (2.08), shutouts (five),saves (674) and minutes played (1,327). He’s also tied for third in the WHL in wins with 12. Bow has appeared in 22 of the Broncos’ 25 games this year.

Say ‘hey’ to Harry

Broncos defenceman and P.A.’s own Jordan Harris will make another appearance at the Art Hauser Centre, the fourth time in his WHL career he’s played in his hometown rink. Harris scored a goal last week against the Raiders, the first goal this season.

Looking ahead

Friday’s game is the third last home game until the holiday break. The others are a Nov. 29 game against the Brandon Wheat Kings and Dec. 17 against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Raiders will play 10 games on the road before the break, including a three-game road-swing this week and their seven game B.C. road-trip between Dec. 3-13.
