Tips for Halloween

Oct 31, 2014 | 4:57 PM

Today is Halloween and it’s important for everyone to remember to follow some safety tips. Lyle Karasiuk with Parkland Ambulance said motorists should be mindful of kids coming home from school and going out trick-or-treating.

“[Kids] don’t pay attention to the crosswalks so they’re going to be running all over and they’re going to be excited and want to get out there,” he said.

He said as a reminder for parents to leave their children’s props at home and always check their candy before they eat it.  As a reminder for homeowners, Karasiuk said to make sure animals are kept away and lawns are kept tidy.

Karasiuk said children should go out in groups or at least make sure they have someone with them.  He also said it’s a good idea to travel with a whistle just in case they run into trouble.
