As Gordie Howe continues his recovery following a serious stroke on the weekend, some in Saskatchewan are remembering what kind of man Mr. Hockey is.

Darrell Davis of the Green Zone on News Talk Radio holds a special connection to Howe. Darrel’s father, Lorne Davis, played with and against Howe during his professional hockey career.

“They had this bond and it was amazing. Even though Gordie played with how many guys over how many years, but he would remember his teammates and especially the guys from Saskatchewan,” Darrell said.

Lorne was teammates with Howe in the 1950’s as part of the Detroit Red Wings. Lorne would also play against him as part of four other original six teams.
