Teenagers allegedly rob West Hill business

Mar 8, 2011 | 10:52 AM

Three female teenagers are facing numerous criminal charges after allegedly robbing a West Hill business at knife point.

It happened Monday at about 10 p.m.

The Prince Albert police tracked the accused with their K-9 unit, and found the teenagers at the rear of a second West Hill business.

Sgt. Jason Stonechild said they were acting suspiciously.

He said,” It is suspected that they were preparing to commit their second robbery.”

The suspects fled on foot, but the police chased and apprehended them.

He said the suspects were discovered to have ”edged weapons concealed… in addition to items taken from the initial robbery.

“Five or ten years ago it’d be unusual, but now it’s not unusual for young girls to be involved in violent crimes,” said Stonechild. “We’re finding that young offender females are starting to be more responsible for violent crime.”

The youth, who are 15, 16, and 17 years old, are scheduled to appear in provincial court today.
