6:10 p.m. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper speaks publicly for first time since shooting, saying “This week’s events are a grim reminder Canada is not immune.” Says the attacks — not just in Ottawa, but also against two soldiers in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, “strengthens our resolve”. Talks about redoubling efforts.

4:30 p.m. – Patients taken to hospital released.

4:20 p.m. – Speaker of the House Andrew Scheer says the House of Common will resume sitting when “deemed appropriate to do so”.

4:18 p.m. – Politicians still under lockdown at Parliament Hill.

4:15 p.m. – Prime Minister to speak at 5 p.m. He has met with cabinet ministers.

3:55  p.m. – Ottawa police still have the safety perimeter established around Parliament Hill. The RCMP are investigating the Parliament Hill shooting. Officers ask citizen to remain vigilant.

2:26 p.m. – Globe and Mail identifies soldier shot and killed at National War Memorial as Cpl. Nathan Cirillo

1:59 p.m. – CBS says U.S. officials told them name of the dead Ottawa shooting suspect is Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a Canadian born in 1982

12:50 p.m. – President Barack Obama offers Canada any support it needs from U.S.

12:30 p.m. – Police can’t say if it was the same shooter at the National War Memorial and in Centre Block of Parliament Hill. Not saying how many shooters. Asking the public to stay vigilant.

12:15 RCMP speak on Ottawa attack, confirm one soldier dead, gunman also shot dead.  The investigation is still “fluid,” “dynamic” and “ongoing.” RCMP won’t say if there are other suspects or the identity of the dead gunman.

11:50 Ottawa police say they believe there is more than one shooter

11:07 a.m. – Prime Minister got briefed on the shootings by Com. Paulson

11:00 a.m. –  Three patients total taken to hospital related to this attack in Ottawa, including soldier.

10:45 a.m.- Ottawa police can’t say how many shooters involved in attack in Ottawa. No shooter in custody.

10:40 a.m.- Jason Kenney confirms soldier shot at National War Memorial has died.

10:20 a.m.- Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says Throne speech will go on.

10:10 a.m. – Two injured in shootings said to be soldier at National War Memorial and security guard in Centre Block.

10:00 a.m. – House Sgt.-at-Arms Kevin Vickers reportedly shot and killed the shooter on Parliament Hill who shot the soldier.

9:25 a.m. – Ottawa police say incidents at National War Memorial, near the Rideau Centre and Parliament Hill.

Just after 8 a.m. – Prime Minister Harper is confirmed to be safe.

At about 8 a.m. – Soldier down at War Memorial near Parliament Hill
