Oct 2, 2014 | 7:35 AM

Carlton Comprehensive High School graduate Dalyce Emmerson is coming home.

The former 900 CKBI/Kinsmen female athlete of the year will lead the University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s basketball team onto the floor Friday against Edmonton’s MacEwan University.

Organizer Ron Stewart said it’s a chance to welcome Emmerson home and watch one of the best players in the country.

“Dalyece has been playing with the Huskies program for three years and she is one of the top inside players in all of Canada.” said Stewart, who added the six foot, three-inch forward honed her skills at home.

“She went through the public school system in Prince Albert, went to Carlton and she is super excited about coming back, putting her game on the road and showing us her team and what she can do and I think people will be impressed.”

Stewart said it’s an opportunity to witness the game at a very high level.

“Both the Huskie teams are top ranked in the country, the ladies are third ranked the men are ranked eighth and we’re bringing in two quality opponents from Edmonton. Grant MacEwan University is new to CIS, they are playing in the Pacific division and we are hoping it will be an experience that people will long remember.”

The new Carlton gym can seat about 1,000 fans. Tickets are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. The woman’s game is at 6 p.m. with opening tip-off for the men’s game at 7:45 p.m.
