The sun was out across Saskatchewan on Sunday, with temperatures in the 20s, but the forecast for the week to come is drastically different.

A cold front rolling across Saskatchewan will drop temperatures on Monday and last for the rest of the week. There is a possibility of seeing frost by mid week.

Environment Canada meterologist Mark Melsness said there will also be rain, especially south of the Trans Canada Highway. There is even a chance of snow in some areas by Tuesday overnight.

“Mainly over the higher country in the southwest part of the province. Hopefully that doesn't accumulate too much there, mainly in the Cypress Hills,” he said.

Melsness said the bad weather is coming from a low pressure system in central Alberta, which is pushing southeastward. Alberta will face the brunt of the system with some areas expecting snow.

“There's also is a special weather statement out for western Alberta, out in the foothills. Looking at 5 centimeters plus of snow coming in (monday),” Melsness said.
