Libyan students at the University of Regina may have scholarship funds cut off to them after billions of dollars in assets belonging to the Libyan government have been frozen.

The situation affects eight students at the University of Regina and more than 500 across Canada.

Souheil Elmabrouk is studying petroleum engineering, but the money backing him could run out by the end of the month.

“It's not fair for Libyan students in Canada. What have they done for their tuition to stop?” said Elmabrouk.
