Record highs for local Chamber of Commerce

The Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce is riding high on record memberships and market shares.

The chamber’s current membership is 505, 55 members higher than the previous record, and their market share is at 39 per cent, 14 per cent higher than the national average.

“Over the last year we’ve really gone on the mainstream here in Prince Albert and we’ve really put our face out there and shown people that being a chamber member serves a lot of different purposes,” said Bergen Price, CEO of the Prince Albert Chamber of Commerce.

“I think getting involved in council and putting on a couple of real … strong events has really shown people the networking opportunities in the Chamber of Commerce.”

The reason they’ve had so much success is because the Prince Albert business community is eager to succeed and expand, Price said.

“We have passion in the business community here, there’s a lot of passion around Saskatchewan and other business communities, but especially here in Prince Albert. I think all the carrots we have dangling over our heads right now has just got a lot of people excited and wanting to make a strong push forward,” he said.

The Chamber organizes events including bringing speakers to the city, such as Donald Cooper from Cooper Canada who spoke in Prince Albert on Feb. 9.

Price said the more people who participate in and support the chamber the more they can give back to the community with new events and partnerships.

The Chamber of Commerce is also partnered with the Shellbrook Chamber of Commerce — this is the first initiative by a Chamber of Commerce to pair up with a volunteer-based organization.

“Shellbrook & District Chamber of Commerce has really taken off,” Price said.

He said the chamber wants to continue to expand and bring new and exciting opportunities to Prince Albert.
