Corner Gas: The Movie gets world premiere in Saskatoon

Jun 3, 2014 | 7:05 AM

Roll out the red carpet, pick up your popcorn and prepare to be the first in the world to watch Corner Gas: The Movie.

Bart Hunter, director of ScotiaMcLeod and leader of the Hunter Financial Group in Saskatoon, made the $8,000 online bid that solidified Saskatoon as host city for the world premiere. The bid was part of the month-long kickstarter campaign the movie is using to engage with fans.

“They didn't know where it was going to go, it could have went to Australia,” Hunter said, adding he thought it would be a neat opportunity for Saskatoon so he put in his bid. “We all thought here that it could be such a unique thing that we'd alter it and try to raise money for charity.”

Hunter plans to make the private screening a charity event with funds raised going to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation and the Saskatoon Community Foundation.
