Saskatchewan company acquitted of work place charges

A Prince Albert judge acquitted a Saskatchewan company of five occupational health and safety charges from a fatal job site accident in 2006.

Robwel Constructors Limited Partnership we’re charged after one of their employees working at Cameco's McArthur River operation died when pressure released from a dewatering line caused the line to recoil and strike him.

The trial took place took place in Oct. 2010, however Judge Hugh Harradence reserved his decision until Feb.11.

In that decision, he acquitted the company of all charges on the basis that all reasonable steps were taken by the company to prevent such an incident, said a government news release.
