Illness confirmed to be norovirus

The provincial medical lab has confirmed that norovirus is the illness that has caused visitor restrictions at Victoria Hospital.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region put the restrictions in place in the pediatric unit and Golden Hill unit at the Herb Bassett Home on Wednesday.

The people showing symptoms were isolated.

Visitors are asked to re-schedule their visits until the outbreak is declared over. 

If your visit is considered more urgent in nature, you should report first to the nursing station.

Visitors are asked to perform hand hygiene upon entering and leaving the unit.

The visitor restrictions will remain in place over the weekend and will be reviewed Monday.
