Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Alexandre Gauthier

Feb 10, 2011 | 5:20 PM

News Talk Radio has learned that the Saskatchewan Riders will make the signing of former Tiger-Cats offensive tackle Alexandre Gauthier official on Friday.

The Winnipeg Free Press is reporting that Gauthier will make $140,000 with the Roughriders.

Gauthier was waived by the Tiger-Cats and cleared waivers earlier this week. The Riders were one of the teams interested in the non-import tackle. The choice for Gauthier came down to Winnipeg or Saskatchewan.

Gauthier has a lot of familiarity with the Roughriders coaching staff. He was coached by the Riders new offensive line coach Steve Buratto last season in Hamilton and was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers when current Riders offensive coordinator Doug Berry was Head Coach and Riders GM Brendan Taman was also in Winnipeg.
