Perhaps unsurprisingly Jared Britton, a Regina man accused of felony murder in Wisconsin, will not be playing for his university's hockey team again.
The chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Stout has released a memo to staff and students at the school stating Britton won't play for the team this year. He and co-accused, Jedediah McGlasson, are also barred from reinstatement to the team in the future.
The two have been accused of felony murder and assault in the death of a fellow student after an incident at a bar near the school's campus on Sept. 18. Police say Britton shoved Bradley Simon while he was riding a bike, causing him to strike his head on a cement wall. He later died from the injuries he sustained in that collision.
Eight other players are also being kicked off the team for the rest of the year for violating the school's student-athlete code of conduct, according to the memo.
The next court appearance for Britton is in November.
