Winter storm warning issued for southwest Saskatchewan

Jan 22, 2011 | 7:42 AM

The southwest corner of Saskatchewan is experiencing some intense winter conditions Saturday morning, causing Environment Canada to issue a winter storm warning for Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie and Cypress Hills.

Meteorologist Mike Russo says it's all because of a weather system barreling in from Montana.

“Some pretty significant snowfall amounts out that way, about four to six inches or around 12 to 15 centimeters thus far,” said Russo.

The snow storm should be gone by Saturday afternoon, but Russo says there could be lingering effects.
