PotashCorp agreement on commitment to Sask. coming soon

There should be an agreement in the next several weeks between the government and PotashCorp over the Saskatoon-based company's promise to return head office jobs to the City of Bridges.

PotashCorp made the public pledge as it battled against BHP Billiton's hostile takeover bid last fall.

Expecting the agreement to be signed before the opening of the Legislature at the beginning of March, Premier Brad Wall said there has been little need for the government to push PotashCorp.

“They have been honouring the spirit of those pledges, they have been working on it from a Board perspective and from an executive perspective … and government has not had to inject itself,” said Wall.

Other commitments in the pledge to Saskatchewan include increasing PotashCorp's aboriginal workforce and having a greater philanthropic presence in the community.
