The first ever year of the Prince Albert 6-on-6 high school football league wrapped up Wednesday on championship day.

The Lions beat the Argonauts 6-4 in the touchdown count to win the league, while the Riders beat the Eskimos 6-4 in the third place game.

The league ran for six weeks and featured players from Grades 9-11 in helping them get ready for high school football next season.

“These extra reps in the spring are really going to help make up for a lot of lost time,” said Eskimos coach Curt Hundeby, who is also the head coach of the St. Mary Marauders. “It’s awesome for these guys to get a chance to play in the spring.
