Local youth raise funds for African well

May 9, 2013 | 6:46 AM

In a country like Canada, where there are unlimited sources of fresh water, it can be easy to forget that there are many people around the world who consider themselves fortunate to have clean water.

Thanks to the empathy of young students from the Prince Albert Alliance Youth Group, an African community will eventually have its own well, with fresh, clean water.

“Our youth group has been raising money other years by participating in the 30-hour famine,” says group member Mason Neufeld. “This year we decided to do something bigger.”

Youth pastor Rev. Colin Turner agreed. “These kids are really passionate about the issue of fresh water in the world, so we decided to give them this bigger challenge.”
