Worst year for Regina fire deaths in nearly a decade

There have been more fire-related deaths in Regina in 2010 than has been seen in nearly a decade.

The beginning of the new year has already been marked by yet another blaze in a house in the city.

Fortunately no one was hurt, but Angela Prawzick with the fire department confirms the latest statistics show that isn't always the case.

“In 2010 we had four people who succumbed and perished because of fire, in 2009 we had zero fatalities,” said Prawzick.

And she says it doesn't have to be that way.
