Province’s locum physician pool grows with new investment

Apr 23, 2013 | 4:33 PM

An investment announced Tuesday by the provincial government will give every Saskatchewan health region at least one locum physician.

The province is doubling its commitment to $3 million for the rural physician locum pool.

It was created last May to help rural communities stabilize physician services. Locum physicians fill in for physicians who are away from their practice.

The government investment will fund approximately 12 full-time locum positions with plans to add eight more over the next three years.
