Prince Albert commemorates Victim Awareness Week

Apr 22, 2013 | 6:14 AM

When a crime has been committed, the effects are devastating on individuals, family and even the community. In the aftermath, victims can be left feeling helpless and confused.

Fortunately, Prince Albert City Police and RCMP both have Victim Service Units to help. PA City Police Victim Services has dealt with more than 600 files.

“Most of the files we deal with are personal crime in that they are crimes against a person. That being said, we are available to victims of any kind of crime,” said Chezanne Turner assistant co-ordinator/missing persons liaison for city police.

According to Turner, victims often just don't know what to do next or where to turn. Victim services is there to help, including guiding victims through the Criminal Justice system.
