Camping in the winter

Jan 4, 2011 | 5:09 AM

Lighter and warmer materials as well as newer technology means the time has never been better for brave, outdoorsy people who want to do some winter camping.

“Certainly now there is a few pockets of special pockets like Prince Albert National Park where you can still go and experience that,” said Colleen Gerwing, a Prince Albert National Park interpreter and winter camping enthusiast.

Gerwing has a warning though. It can sometimes be hard to handle the lack of daylight hours in the winter months, she said.

To combat this, she suggests going while the weather is good or waiting may want to wait until winter is nearing its end.
