Organized crime arrests lead to another sentencing

A man convicted of drug trafficking in a large-scale case has been sentenced.

Tanner Beaven, 26, of Prince Albert was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by Madam Justice A. R. Rothery at Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert March 15.

Beaven was arrested in May, 2008 by the Prince Albert Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), the RCMP Integrated Proceeds of Crime Section, as well as members of the Prince Albert Police Services Criminal Investigations Division with 10 other individuals. The arrests were carried out during an inter-provincial investigation into organized crime groups trafficking drugs and laundering money.

Police seized large amounts of cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), steroids and ecstasy with a street value of nearly $75,000 at a residence in Buckland.
