Saskatchewan legal drinking age stays at 19

Mar 4, 2013 | 11:49 AM

Despite the hopes of some Saskatchewan teenagers, the legal drinking age in the province will remain at 19 years.

The government announced Monday that it would not be lowering the legal drinking age, saying the majority of people weighing in on the possible change urged the government to maintain the status quo. The Saskatchewan Party had said at their annual convention in November that it would consider lowering the drinking age.

Most other provinces in Canada set their legal drinking age at 19, with the exception of Manitoba, Alberta and Quebec which are 18 years old.
