Business of the Day: Island View Shores

Feb 27, 2013 | 6:06 AM

Located on Delaronde Lake 14 kilometres from Big River, Island View Shores is a new recreational subdivision offering a small piece of Saskatchewan paradise.

Tamara Sundby is apart of the group behind the development. Her family has lived on the lake since the 70s and only after the passing of her father did her mother and two brothers decide to go into business together.

“I guess, to us it’s more than just a development of the land. It’s like a piece of our family pride and history. We’re very passionate about what we are doing here.”

Sundby said they want sell their customers a piece of paradise with all the services of city living, but without sacrificing the property’s natural beauty.

“It’s not going to be the type where you come out and everything is perfectly flat and you start from scratch.”

“Our development is the only one like this. It’s the only one fully treed, untouched.”

Island View Shores will have up to 40 fully serviced lots this spring, but Sundby says they’re considering reducing that number to increase the size of the back lots.

“We don’t want to jam them it. We want everyone to have there own space.”

Sundby said they have plans for a marina, docking service and a professionally designed park. The property also has an engineered drainage plan to protect owners from future flooding issues.

Stretching 35 miles (56.33 km) and up to 200 feet (60.96 metres) deep, the lake is ideal for boating and fishing, Sundby said. The forest and trails a round the lake make for good hiking, cross country skiing, quadding and snowmobiling.
