Willful vehicle damage spreads across city

Feb 26, 2013 | 4:11 PM

On Saturday and Sunday, Prince Albert Police Service received seven complaints of willful damage to vehicles.

Police said the damage occurred to vehicles across the city and came in the form of smashed windows with nothing being taken from the vehicles.

“It could have been one group going around if it were one vehicle, but it’s hard to say. It’s so hard to say with these types of things, but it appears to be random acts. Not one specific person or party appears to be targeted,” said Sgt. Curtis Halcro.

Vandalism locations

-One vehicle in the 1300-block of Second Avenue West
-One vehicle in the 600-block of 36th Street East
-One vehicle in the 3000-block of Dunn Drive
-Two vehicle in the 300-block of 15th Street West
-Two vehicles in the 100 block of 11th Street West

With temperatures warming up and snow clearing away from walkways and roads, Halcro said there is more foot traffic again.

“I think people should be more aware of strangers in their neighbourhood and people that appear to be lurking about for no good reason, give us a call we’ll drive by and check them out. Better safe than sorry,” he said.

Currently there are no suspects for the cases of willful damage.

Police are asking anyone with information to call the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
