Highways minister urges Boxing Day travellers to use caution

Boxing Day will be another busy travel day in Saskatchewan as many people say so long to their family and friends and go their separate ways.

If people are heading out, the government is urging them to check the highway hotline before they travel.

Highways Minister Jim Reiter said conditions can change quickly and even if it's not storming, people need to be aware of the tiny snowstorm that can be created when snow plows are out.

“We ask people to be cautious of that. It can catch you unaware. You can suddenly be in what seems like a mini-blizzard driving behind a snow plow,” Reiter said.
