A Christmas meal for the community

Dec 25, 2010 | 7:11 PM

Thanks to meals provided at both Salvation Army and St. Mary High School today, many people were able to enjoy a Christmas meal that they might have otherwise missed out.

“For some, this is their only Christmas meal. We had one lady say no one had served her a Christmas meal before,” said MaryAnne Carter, co-ordinator of the event at the Salvation Army.

Not only were people able to feast on a turkey supper, but they also got to enjoy socializing with the others who arrived, as well as many volunteers.

“We have far too many people who are alone on Christmas. It’s not the time to be alone,” said Isabelle Impey, co-ordinator of the Community Christmas Dinner at St. Mary High School.
